We know that planning for your photo session can raise many questions, so we are here to help make the process a little less daunting. We have put together a few Q&As to help you, but should you have any questions outside of these, feel free to contact us.
When should i book my maternity session?
Our maternity sessions are booked between 30 – 34 weeks. This is the best time as your bump is beautifully visible, but you are not too uncomfortable to move around. It can be done earlier; it all depends on how your bump is progressing. Due to our schedule filling up, we suggest that you make your booking at around 20 weeks to avoid disappointment.
Where will our session take place?
Your maternity session can either take place in studio or on location. If you don’t have a specific location in mind, I will gladly suggest a few of my favourites. A travelling fee will however apply should your location be more than 30km from the studio.
Can I book my Maternity & Newborn session together?
We recommend doing this as it will not only guarantee that you are scheduled for the newborn session, but you will also receive a 15% discount on your total package.
Do you have dresses available to hire?
I have a few stunning suppliers available that you can contact regarding the rental of maternity wear.
Do we get to choose our photos?
Yes! I love giving my clients the freedom of selecting their own gallery. You will receive a sheet with thumbnails of all the high-quality images to choose from. I will then edit from that selection. This also gives my clients the option to select any additional images that they might want.
When will I receive my photo gallery?
You can expect to receive your gallery within 3 – 6 weeks from the day that you sent us your gallery selection. I will send you a link to your online gallery to download your images, which you can also send to family and friends.
What is the cancellation policy?
If you are unable to keep your appointment, please notify me at least 24 hours before your scheduled session. Your 50% non-refundable deposit will be applied to your rescheduled session.
When should i book my cake smash session?
If displaying their cake smash photos at their birthday party or on social media on the day, or for invitations, I recommend booking 4 – 6 weeks before their birthday to allow room for editing and ordering. If having photos, that are a true reflection of them as close to their birthday as possible, is important to you, then I recommend booking the most convenient date just before their actual birthday.
Can I choose my own theme?
This is my favourite part! We will work together to create a theme according to your ideas to create images that are unique to you. If you feel like you are not particularly creative, I will gladly guide you to choose a theme that will be perfect for you and your child. Should you not have the budget for a custom theme, we do have existing themes available to choose from.
What if my baby doesn't like smashing the cake?
Your little one is still getting used to everything, and smashing a cake might be a new texture for them. I always recommend that mommies introduce cupcakes with icing to their little ones ahead of the session. This way they are used to it and will most likely destroy the cake. We will definitely capture photos, and I also suggest adding our Splash Session as these make amazing photos and babies enjoy it so much!
What can I expect from my session?
A whole lot of mess, but adorable images! This session is all about letting your little one’s personality shine through. We will take some portraits before we introduce the cake, and then we will capture all of your baby’s cuteness. Should you opt for the added Splash Session, we will end the session with that.
What if my child has allergies?
If your child is allergic to anything that can be found in a cake or certain types of bubble bath / powdered milk please let me know ahead of the session so that we can address this.
Can I incorporate sibling and parent photos in my session?
You can add parent and sibling photos to your package, and these photos will be taken at the beginning of the session. Babies tend to become overwhelmed if all the family and siblings stay for the duration of the session, so if siblings will be joining the photos, I recommend taking them for a walk once we start with the Cake Smash. Parents are welcome to stay. This is a special milestone and I recommend that the rest of the session is all about the birthday boy or girl.

Best time to schedule my newborn session?
We strongly advise that you book your newborn session when you are at your 30 weeks mark. This way you can rest assured that your session will happen within 2 weeks of birth {the best time to get the sweetest photographs!}
How can i book without knowing my session date?
Your due date will be your temporary session date. Once your baby is born you can pop us a message and we will schedule a session date between 5 – 10 days from birth. I will also send you a message on that day to check in on you and make sure everything is still in order.
How soon should i have my newborn session after giving birth?
Sooner is better! To achieve those sweet poses we all love, we require the baby to be sound asleep; this makes it easier to gently move them into the poses. Babies generally stay fast asleep a few days after birth, but after the 14 days mark, they start stretching which makes achieving those poses less simple.
How long will my newborn session take?
Your session will take anything from 1 hour to 4 hours. This all depends on the package you booked. We have a very relaxed atmosphere in the studio, allowing for feeding and changing. The pace of the session will also be determined by your baby.
I booked my session, but my baby is in NICU?
Should your little one be admitted to NICU, please inform us so we can then reschedule your session. In the case where your baby is in NICU past the 14 days mark, we can discuss your available options.
Can i incorporate sibling and family photos with my baby?
Of course! Having photos taken with your little one is a special experience for everyone. You can add this to your newborn package.
